Re: The Wrong Trousers.

High school kids rockin' out on YouTube are great and all, but what about elementary school kids? The kid in this video is quite possibly the coolest child ever and completely deserves to be famous:

Actually, when Jeff Magnum was standing behind me at the Xiu Xiu show in Housing Works, I pondered whether I should ask him what he thought of the new Deer Tick album cover. Clearly anything he said would've set my skinny jeans aflame with indie-tinged longing because he is clearly my lord and savior.

But seriously now. There's a real difference between having a "sense of humor" and noticeably downplaying the record's powerful content with a douchey image on the front. Man, do i need a PBR after this conversation.

The new Deer Tick cover kicks ass... I think a lot of people just don't get it... It's meant to be the height of kitsch, not some arrogant indie rock cover. People who don't like it should fight the indie powers that be and learn to have a sense of humor. After all, there is life beyond Jeff Mangum.

Great list!

BUT. I don't believe in the Deer Tick reissue simply because that cover photo is too douchey for words. It is for that reason, that I only accept War Elephant as a 2007 release.

I'm addicted to Mother Mother. I've had to force myself to stop listening, fearful that I'll get sick of it. "Body" is my current favorite from O My Heart.

That Fredrik record is terrific, it's like The Books but with real pop song structures.
