Bob Odenkirk Sells the Heck Out of Some Canned Peas on ‘Conan’

Bob Odenkirk may now be best known as a dramatic actor thanks to Better Call Saul, but that didn’t stop him from getting back to his sketch comedy roots with his old pal, Conan O’Brien.

Conan and Odenkirk, who worked together on Saturday Night Live and Late Night with Conan O’Brien, reunited on Tuesday night’s episode of Conan. On the show, O’Brien chastised Odenkirk for “selling out,” then showed a foreign commercial Odenkirk had made “in the U.K.” — by which they mean in the studio right before the show.

Odenkirk shows his dramatic gravitas to great effect while shilling for “Geeble’s Wet Pea Comestibles.” He also shows his inner diva in some outtakes from the shoot.

Odenkirk never really “left” comedy; he co-starred in the revival of his ’90s sketch show Mr. Show on Netflix last year. Still, it’s nice for the majority of Odenkirk’s new fans, who know him exclusively as Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill, to get a little taste of the sketch work that has garnered a following among comedy nerds for the past two decades.
