Great! Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg Cast in ‘Nine Eleven,’ a Movie About Exactly What You’d Expect

Fun casting news today, as it’s been announced that Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg will play the leads in the upcoming 9/11 drama Nine Eleven.

Co-written and directed by Martin Guigui, the film centers on a group of five people trapped in an elevator in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Luis Guzman, Wood Harris, and Olga Fonda have been cast as the other survivors. Guigui called the film a “highly emotional journey and it took a dynamic bunch to collectively come together to make this unique film happen,” and insisted that both “Charlie and Whoopi are native New Yorkers who strongly identify with this story.”

That may be true, but not necessarily in the way Guigui meant. While Goldberg has gone on record to compare 9/11 conspiracy theorists to Holocaust deniers, Sheen has himself been a 9/11 “truther” since the very beginning, as seen in the below clip of a celebrity news show.

Should the two make it through the shoot without beating each other up, the film will likely arrive in theaters sometime close to September 11, this year or the next.
