From the 6 No More, New Drake Album Is Simply “VIEWS”

As expected, with all of the hullabaloo surrounding the release of Kanye West’s recent The Life of Pablo — before it was The Life of Pablo, it was So Help Me God, then SWISH — the way that artists approach “norms” for album cycles has changed drastically. Now, it seems like another huge rap artist has jumped on the “unexpectedly change your album name” train that Kanye is conducting.

Less than two full days ahead of its worldwide release, and less than 24 hours preceding its premiere on Drake’s OVOSOUND Radio show on Apple Music’s Beats 1 channel, Views from the 6 has been shortened to simply VIEWS. I guess Drake finally figured out that we all understood him by now: “We get it, Drake, you’re from the 6!”

Shortly after Drake tweeted the album’s 20-song tracklist last night on a sleeve that suspiciously featured the title sans “from the 6,” Universal Music Canada sent out a press release to clarify, according to The Toronto Star . Giving out no reason for the sudden change, the email simply read, “the new Drake record is officially entitled VIEWS — no longer Views from the 6.”

You can hear VIEWS’s 20 tracks debuted tonight at 10:00 PM ET on Apple Music’s OVOSOUND Radio show. The full album will be available for purchase tomorrow.
