“Carpool Karaoke” on The Late Late Show with James Corden has always been fun, but sometimes you just have to sit back and think to yourself, “James, you have so many vacant seats in the back row! If this was a real carpool, you’d be utilizing them! What a waste of space! Go pick someone else up!”

He finally did. In last night’s segment, joining Corden in his carpool was not only Gwen Stefani, who rode shotgun, but also Oscar-winning actors Julia Roberts and George Clooney, who piled into the back.

For a while, it was just Corden and Gwen driving around in the car, talking about Gwen’s eternal agelessness, acting out emojis, and singing along to Stefani’s own classics like “Sweet Escape,” “Rich Girl,” “Used to Love You,” and No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak.”

Then, after realizing that the HOV lane required a minimum of four people, James made a few quick phone calls and, within seconds, George Clooney climbed in, followed by Julia Roberts. All four of them chanted along to “Hollaback Girl,” which then morphed into spirited debate about what exactly a “hollaback girl” is. Clooney was sure he knew the correct definition, describing a “hollaback girl” as a woman who is catcalled by a man at a construction site but refuses to acknowledge him. And, for all we know, it could be! Gwen refused to ever disclose her true inspirations behind the song. The two actors then recalled their favorite lines in a movie, right before they all belted Queen’s “We Are the Champions.”
