It seems strange that he hates indie-consensus, but wants “enormous” (consensus) pop music.
That being said, Shakira had some great songs this year.
I know GvB and P4k are all on this chillwave, but I didn’t think anyone took it that seriously because most of it kind of sucks.
Also, I don’t know about the whole album, but Green Day’s singles were boring.

Well, people, we can get all hung up on the specifics, but Weingarten’s point is a big pop act can make a as great a record as some officially sanctioned hipsters. Ultimately, these things come down to taste. Do you really think you’re going to listen to Animal Collective in 2030 and marvel at how well it stands up? Don’t think so.

Some valid points but no. Grean Day’s latest, Shakira, Paisley… NO, NO, NO.

You can get annoyed about food critics jumping on some bandwagon (60 dollar burgers, some semi poisonous Japanese fish, caviar, foie gras, etc) but you don’t push against it by eating deep fried cow shit.
