The Oscar-Predicting SAG Award Nominations Announced

The fate of the Oscars might hang in the balance BECAUSE OF THEM, but nevertheless, this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations have been announced, and in the least surprising news ever, the big-screen adaptation of Doubt, which stars Philip Seymour Hoffman and Meryl Streep, leads the pack.

Putting these two together in the same movie is the Hollywood equivalent of stacking a student government election by putting the most popular kids in the class on the same bill. Throw Robert Downey, Jr. into the cast, and you wouldn’t even need to watch the ceremony to find out who won. Find a complete list of nominees after the jump; does anyone else find it strange that the Lifetime Achievement Award is going to James Earl Jones (yes, he’s Darth Vader, but the last time we loved him in a movie was 1993 — The Sand Lot)?
