Watch Donald Glover Jam with Reggie Watts and Sing Seal’s “Kiss From a Rose” with James Corden

“Have you ever considered jamming any musical type of thing… right now?” Reggie Watts spontaneously (but likely the late night TV type of “spontaneous”) asked Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) last night on the Late Late Show with James Corden. And so it begins, with Glover asking for a mid-tempo beat, and the two easing into it, with Watts beatboxing and Glover tentatively starting with some falsetto “alright”s and “ooh”s; then the audience starts clapping, Glover starts lyricizing about “never [being] alone” when “Reggie’s on the microphone,” aaand it’s another charming bit of late night fluff:

Elsewhere on the show, Glover also revealed that his go-to karaoke song is “Kiss From a Rose” by Seal. And then he and James Corden began a bit of an impromptu duet:

The more substantial stuff — like actual questions about Donald Glover’s actual show, the funny, riveting and surprising Atlanta — was not shared in easily consumable YouTube clips, however the whole episode can be streamed on CBS’ website. (This is James Cordon, so “substantial” questions were quite limited; also, Nascar driver Jimmie Johnson was there.) Corden has Glover explain Atlanta, and asks what it was like going back as an adult (Glover himself is from Atlanta); “It was really strange…I also shot Spiderman there, so it was really weird being in places, like, ‘now I’m just talking to Spiderman in my old playground.'”

Atlanta airs on FX on Tuesdays at 10 p.m.
