Priscilla Presley Partnering with the Weinstein Company on an Elvis TV Series

“Elvis Presley was an explorer of vast new landscapes of dream and illusion,” writes Dave Marsh in his book Elvis. The text is the basis for a new TV biopic that is being developed by the Weinstein Company, the Elvis estate, and the King’s widow, Priscilla Presley. “Partnering with producers of this caliber enables us to provide viewers with a new and original experience that is as captivating as The King himself,” Corey Salter, chairman and CEO of Authentic Brands, which owns Elvis Presley Enterprises, told Deadline, Also from Deadline:

The series, which has the Dave Marsh book Elvis as a resource as well as archives that include Presley’s personal journals, will get going quickly. TWC is already short-listing A-list feature writer-directors to write the script. It is expected the package will be brought to networks within the next two weeks. . . . The aim is to do a thorough exploration into a remarkable life with the care that has gone into TWC feature biopics that include The Imitation Game, The King’s Speech, Women In Gold and so many others.
