Striking Photos of Seemingly Abandoned Cities Around the World

New York is known as the city that never sleeps, but if Paris-based photographer Genaro Bardy’s artworks are any judge, it’s a desert island. The photographer captures different cities around the world that are normally packed with people as empty scenes. Bardy calls the series Desert in the City, which was inspired after shooting photos of empty New York City in 2011, just before Hurricane Irene caused major damage to the area. He continued the series in his own city, London, and Rome, creating a book that features the deserted cities shot in a single night (on different holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving), thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign.
