Dave Chappelle has joined the cast of Warner Bros’ A Star Is Born remake, which is currently in production. The comedian will star alongside Bradley Cooper (he’ll be directing, marking his debut), Lady Gaga (billed as Stefani Germanotta), Andrew Dice Clay, and Sam Elliott. This is another move by Chappelle for a big comeback. The actor recently inked a deal with Netflix for three comedy specials, set for release simultaneously next year. In A Star Is Born, Chappelle will play an old friend of Cooper’s Jackson Maine, according to Variety. Maine, similar to Fredric March’s character in the 1937 original film, is a declining star who discovers a talented unknown named Ally (Germanotta’s character). When her career starts to eclipse his, he grapples with his fading fame. Germanotta has composed original songs for the film. A Star Is Born arrives in theaters on September 28, 2018.
