Inspired Illustrations of Cartoon Buddies and Movies as Comic Books

One of our favorite things about Gallery1988, L.A.’s home for pop culture-obsessed art, is how often they give artists a chance to shine – how you’ll first notice someone with a distinctive style in one of their group shows, and then sure enough, sooner or later, they’ve got a solo shot. Matthew Skiff first jumped out at us with his contributions to their “Crazy4Cult” exhibitions, and then with his “Best Friends” show; the artist’s new exhibition is part continuation of that series, and part “Cinegraphic,” a series that imagines popular movies in comic book form. We’re pleased to present illustrations from both halves of the show; check out more on Gallery1988’s website.
