The Polaroid Prince: New Work by Jeremy Kost

12

Documenting chic club kids, stylish celebrities, and flamboyant drag queens with ready-in-an-instant Polaroid prints for the past five years, Jeremy Kost has developed an influential following in New York’s downtown art world, as well as on the international fashion scene. The subject of solo shows at Washington DC’s Conner Contemporary Art (Anyone Other Than Me, through March 13) and New York’s National Art Club (The Ladies Who Lunch, through March 27), Kost makes grids, collages, and blow-ups with his snaps, capturing the energy of the moment while exposing a walk on the wild side.

OVER…RATED.

Not to be a snot, but it should be “The Ladies WHO Lunch.”

@zee You’re right; fixing now!

Either what zee said, or “The Ladies, That Lunch” as in, here are some ladies, and there’s that lunch I was talking about.

I thought they stopped making Polaroid film? Now what they need to come out with is Digital Polaroid. Do you think?

We’ve seen this all before…including pics of club kids. In 2010 it’s pretty boring…he’s not doing anything new with it.

Seriously, is this the best thing they can find to call ART?? very disappointing.

The commitment to lugging one of those bad boys around is commendable, I just use the Polaroid app on my iphone.

Polaroid Prints don’t equal Polaroid Prince, Flavorpill.

How is this different from Hockney’s “Pearblossom Highway” or other photocollages? Not new. Not interesting. Not even with a drag queen.

Cliche gimmick.

Drag is soooo over. New York is sooo over. Flavorpill, get relevant. Do some digging. LA’s the scene these days. Check out Brand X or something. Ever hear of marcimayerson? Coleco? Ian Rios? Scratch harder than the surface.
