Makes me curious about the book, but I disagree on Denby's take on Anthony Lane. Lane's beyond snarky in some of his reviews. i'm usually much happier when I see Denby's name in the New Yorker TOC each week.

I find it interesting that the online writers who have an issue with Snark are only attacking Denby's sillier jabs and not focusing on the truly devastating parts of his argument — that the Internet has not (and may never) produce writers who are as talented as the ones who choose to work at print publications. Isn't that more upsetting than someone accusing you of meanness/immaturity?
