Maybe the epic proportions of the BP oil spill have us thinking about the end of days. Maybe it’s Lady Gaga’s obsession with Christian imagery. Regardless, click through and prepare to say Hallelujah — it’s time to look at some crosses.

Part fashion bible and part throwdown on all things obnoxiously hip, Gavin McInnes’ Street Boners satirizes the street-style photography phenomenon.

The former Vice main man rates each of his subjects on their modes of dress — from “rich hippie things to pocahipsters to the nerdy slut” — with a kitten-based rating system. Packed with over 1,200 snapshots and contributions from downtown culture icons including Debbie Harry and Chloë Sevigny, the book also features city travel guides and a timeline of “The History of Cool” from beatniks to ravers.

It’s irony to the nth degree as so-called “hipster of the decade” McInnes waffles between foul-mouthed criticism and his raging libido.

Check out more Street Boners online, kick it old-school with Vice Dos and Don’ts, and get your copy of Street Boners: 1,764 Hipster Fashion Jokes.

Click through below for more images and commentary from the book.

(L) “Fashion is meant to accentuate your best features. If your best feature is that you’re perfect, just stick bright shit all over the place.”

Looking for a simple but impactful way to give back? Members Project from American Express, in partnership with TakePart, is an initiative that allows you to get in on the action by voting on charities that you’d like to see get funding from American Express. With a total of up to 50 causes involved, there are a ton of opportunities to volunteer or donate to help make the world a better place.

Our Cause of the Week: EarthShare

For the next several weeks, we’re going to highlight a new charitable organization that’s a favorite of Flavorpill staffers. This week we’re focusing on EarthShare, a community-based environmental group that connects people with “green” nonprofits through workplace giving, volunteer opportunities, and educational programs.

Even though our Cause of the Week isn’t part of Members Project, you should check out similar charities, join, and start making a difference on www.takepart.com/membersproject.

How? On the site, you can cast your vote every week to help decide which five charities will receive funding from American Express, volunteer your time, and donate to your favorite charities. Voting is open to everyone, and there will be five new winners every three months.

Today at Flavorpill, we perused the results of GOOD's health care infographic contest. Jon Stewart scared us when he threw down the gantlet to Apple, and we got mad inspired after hearing Kristen Wiig's '80s crooning on the track "Champion" from MacGruber. We were psyched to hear RZA and GZA are working on a sequel to Liquid Swords (!!!) and totally creeped out by this photographic tribute to Charles Burns's Black Hole comic. We put on our party sombreros in advance of next week's Guactacular (watch the promo video below). And finally, we were both delighted and ashamed that we knew what the mixologist was referencing when he created this cocktail list based on New York tech startups. Yes, it reiterates that the writers are super-smart and sure, everyone loves Sassy, but it got us thinking: can we say that print magazines on the market today are making the same imprint? "Print is dead" has become the inevitable refrain with news of magazine closings and budget cutbacks at major publishing houses, but perhaps it's time to adjust the paradigm. And by that I mean: look past the Cosmopolitans and O Magazines of the world and take a trip down the independent publishing aisle at the local newsstand.

We wanted to see what the traffic flow of people coming in and out of the store looks like as a day in the life." All told, 1,800 of the 8,640 frames Wilkes shot were used and compressed into two minutes of video.
