Finding ‘Hidden’ Culture Around the Country with Sony

We dedicate ourselves daily to discovering the best cultural gems in our area, but alas, there are only so many of us. That’s why we love The Hidden, a cool project from our friends at Sony that put NEX-5R cameras in the hands of local influencers around the country so they could share their unique views of their local treasures.

Cultural representatives were chosen in 15 different area codes, and given free reign to capture images of whatever “hidden” finds they wanted to share. Their personal experience ranged from food to fashion to music, so the results were just as varied. Each influencer’s photos are now on display at their local Sony store, where they can be viewed until February 17. … Read More

Party Recap: Sony@702 Sessions

Way back in 2012, we had a blast out at the Forum Shops Sony store in Las Vegas. Jon Manly (X107.5) hosted Sony Sessions with local indie rockers Youngblood Hawke performing live in-store. Attendees chowed down on gourmet burgers from Fukuburger, and sipped on cocktails courtesy of P.J. Clarkes Las Vegas, and got tips from awesome artist Steven Harrington. Some lucky winners scored free tees by Harrington, a chance to be Youngblood Hawke’s guest photographer for the night, and three even won gift cards to the Sony Store ($100, $200, and $500). We love the 702. If you partied with us (or just wish you did) check our photo gallery and video from the event! All photos by Belinda Louann Photography. … Read More

And hone your own conning abilities by reading up on our “How to Fake Like You Know…” series, covering sports, wine, and art. … Read More

How to Fake Like You Know About Sports

New episodes of USA Network’s White Collar — our favorite series that follows the exploits of a con man’s (Matt Bomer) adjunct assignment with an FBI Special Agent (Tim DeKay) — are right around the corner, and to celebrate, we’ve been amusing ourselves of late composing guides to conning your way through various conversational topics. This time around, it’s sports, a topic that can be downright intimidating if you find yourself stuck by the fridge at a party with a couple of avowed sports fanatics. But never fear, because we’re here to help — so if you don’t know your first down from your first base or your offside from your backside, then read on! … Read More

How to Fake Like You Know About Art

New episodes of USA Network’s White Collar — our favorite series that follows the exploits of a con man’s (Matt Bomer) adjunct assignment with an FBI Special Agent (Tim DeKay) — are right around the corner. To get in the mood for more forgeries and billion-dollar heists, we devised our own cheat sheet to help you fake it with the best of them. If you can’t tell your Post-Impressionist painters from classical Greek sculpture, you can master the art of deception with our guide to the classics. Fake your way through the world’s greatest museums, meet the first Renaissance men, and find out the difference between Monet and Manet after the jump. … Read More
