Of all the performances we’ve been waiting for this year, perhaps our most anticipated is Al Pacino’s turn as Phil Spector in the eponymous, David Mamet-directed HBO biopic. And if the first trailer, above, is any indication, he’s at least going to entertain us. As the legendary music producer and convicted murderer, Pacino bellows and shouts and shoots up a recording studio. Helen Mirren, playing his defense lawyer, looks to be a controlled and muted counterpoint. The film — which seems destined to be either an Emmy-winning triumph or a camp classic — debuts March 24th.
