Ahead of its Sundance premiere, BlackBook points us to the trailer for Michael Polish’s Big Sur, an adaptation of the Jack Kerouac novel of the same name that stars Kate Bosworth, Jean-Marc Barr, and Bathazar Getty. After last year’s disappointing On the Road movie, it will be interesting to see what Polish does with Kerouac’s most florid and dissipated — but also perhaps his most poetic — novel about the author’s time at Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s Big Sur cabin. The trailer doesn’t offer much in the way of plot points (as, indeed, the book doesn’t offer much in the way of a plot), although it makes up for it in beautiful shots of Big Sur and San Francisco. Hell, the movie could be terrible and we’d still watch it for all those cliffs and beaches and redwoods.
