A young Elvis Presley’s penchant for US history made the good people at Heritage Auctions Ultimate Elvis Signature Auction several thousand dollars richer this summer. A library card for The Courageous Heart: A Life of Andrew Jackson for Young Readers, checked out from Memphis’s Humes High School in 1948, sold for $7,500 in August; surprisingly, the auctioneers were only expecting half that amount, despite the card being the King’s earliest known signature. Consider it proof that celebrities literally have the Midas touch. [via Chicago Public Library]
