“YOLO” this isn’t: rapper and Degrassi alum Drake has released the first single from his untitled new album, and this time, it’s personal. In a note to fans, Drake noted: “People don’t have enough information about my beginnings…My family and my second family (consisting of the best friends anybody could ever have) all struggled and worked extremely hard to make all this happen. I did not buy my way into this spot and it was the furthest thing from easy to achieve.” The song is fairly minimalist for Drake, with a stripped-down beat and the straightforward refrain “Started from the bottom/Now we here.” Listen to the Soundcloud track above.
