Here’s your first look at The Hobbit star Benedict Cumberbatch as WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, for director Bill Condon’s The Fifth Estate. The screenplay was inspired in part by the books Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange and the World’s Most Dangerous Website and WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War on Secrecy. The tale is told through the eyes of former colleague Daniel Domscheit-Berg, played by Inglourious Basterds actor Daniel Brühl (pictured above). “He created a real sense of mystery about himself and constantly cloaked his past in new details,” Domscheit-Berg recently told Vanity Fair. Does Benedict wear Assange’s blond well? [via EW]
