Get Ready to Pay a Mandatory $25 Entry Fee at the Met

Outgoing New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg seems to be doing his best to declare victory in his ongoing war on poor people enact as many business-friendly policies as possible before he vacates the office. The latest beneficiary of his largesse? The Met, whose lease has apparently been amended to allow it to charge an entry fee of $25 or more. This seems to have stemmed from the ongoing political row about the Museum’s disingenuous signage, and is pretty terrible news for anyone for whom $25 represents more than pocket change (i.e. most people who aren’t Michael Bloomberg or those in his social milieu.) Sigh.
