Are Jack White and The Flaming Lips in some kind of demented race to see who can come up with the most ridiculous music release formats? Just yesterday, we heard that Valentine’s Day will see the premiere of a Lips compilation album packaged as a USB stick inside a chocolate replica of the human heart. But don’t worry — White, who is no stranger to bizarre vinyl formats, also has a weird V-Day release on the way. Part of his Third Man Records label’s Blue Series, it’s a three-song seven-inch recorded in collaboration with Gibby Haynes of Butthole Surfers and printed on old medical x-rays (which they’ve dubbed Flex-Ray Discs). Because what’s more romantic than a single that comes with its own photographic evidence of a tumor? [via Complex]
