Jay-Z Sells Brooklyn Nets Share, Opts Not to Rap About It

Barclays Center just lost about half its cool factor: Mr. Beyoncé is selling his (tiny) share in the Brooklyn Nets in order to try his hand at being a sports agent. Jay-Z’s statement is short, sweet, and just a tad bit hyperbolic: “I’m a Brooklyn Net forever,” Hova vows, adding, “My job as an owner is over but as a fan it has just begun.” And with that, the rapper/tycoon has moved on to Roc Nation Sports, his brand-spanking-new agency and latest jewel in the Knowles-Carter crown. The question is whether the Nets — and Barclays — will survive the loss of their best spokesman. [via Pitchfork]
