Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley fame has created some songs for Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal’s mom, director Naomi Foner. Very Good Girls stars Dakota Fanning, Elizabeth Olsen, Demi Moore, Richard Dreyfuss, Ellen Barkin, Clark Gregg, and Peter Sarsgaard. It premiered at Sundance to lukewarm reviews and hasn’t secured distribution yet. “The film deals with female sexuality and friendship in a way we haven’t seen before,” Foner said of the movie. “These girls will be stunning young women in a couple of years, but they’ve struggled through high school with only each other. Most of us have been there. This is the summer where they finally get to touch real life.” AV Club reports that Lewis wrote a handful of songs for Olsen’s character (a songwriter) “using Rilo Kiley’s ‘Go Ahead’ as a jumping-off point.” Even if you hate the movie when it releases this year, you can buy the soundtrack independently. Lewis also has a solo album coming out in early 2014. “I have a spring tour I can’t talk today about with one of my bands. You’ll know soon enough,” she teased.
