Jim Carrey Says He “Cannot Support” ‘Kick-Ass 2’

Jim Carrey took to Twitter last night to explain that “in all good conscience” he “cannot support” Kick-Ass 2, the sequel to the cartoonishly violent 2010 action film starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Moretz, and Nicolas Cage. The reason? He finds “that level of violence” unacceptable in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings. Sound logic, if you buy into the theory that violence in media leads to violence in real life. The only problem? Carrey co-stars in the movie, due out this August, as its villain. Still, the actor apologizes to others involved with the project and clarifies that he’s “not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.”
