For about a decade and a half — well past the series’ finale — Michael Richards was best known as Seinfeld‘s Kramer, the bizarre next-door neighbor with the goofy hair. But since November 17, 2006, his name has been equally associated with a horrifying racist outburst directed at a man who heckled him during a stand-up set at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood. So, while it’s kind of surprising to learn that any network — even TV Land! — is willing to cast the 63-year-old actor in a new sitcom pilot, it seems he’s getting a chance to redeem himself. Giant Baby will star Kirstie Alley as a Broadway actress reacquainting herself with a son she gave up for adoption; Richards will play her limo driver, joining a cast that also includes Alley’s Cheers co-star, Rhea Pearlman. This setup (not to mention the general idea of Michael Richards’ comeback) doesn’t sound particularly promising to us, but we’ve got to admit we’re curious. [via Guardian]
