Since the 2010 release of their sophomore album, Contra, Vampire Weekend have been in the studio working on their next LP. We learned from Pitchfork that they officially announced on their website and in a tweet this morning that their third album, yet to be titled, will be released in the US May 7 (and on May 6 in the UK) via XL Recordings. The image on their website features the letters MVOTC in the bottom corner, a possible clue as to the album title. The band has been relatively quiet about the upcoming album, though they spoke to SPIN earlier this month and performed one of the tracks off the new release at last October’s New Yorker festival – of course, they were careful not to identify the song’s name.
