Spike Lee to Direct Gold Mining Scandal Film

We’re looking forward to seeing how Spike Lee remakes the violent Korean thriller Oldboy. News has surfaced about the director’s future project — a film based on the 1993 scandal with Bre-X Mineral Corporation. The company reported that they discovered a gold deposit in the Indonesian jungles, their stock soared, and then it turned out to be untrue. Several of the writers behind Tomb Raider worked on the script. Director Michael Mann was formerly attached to the project. We’re always happy to see what Lee turns out, and his last film, 2012’s Red Hook Summer, feels like it debuted eons ago. Production gets rolling later this year. [via CinemaBlend]
