Marnie Stern says she “was trying to focus on songwriting. Not guitar playing” on her just-announced album, the delightfully titled The Chronicles of Marnia. Fair enough, but there are plenty of heavy, squalling riffs to back up the stunning composition on “Year of the Glad,” the first new track she’s released for streaming. The Chronicles of Marnia – sorry, we just needed to type out that title again — is due out March 19th on Kill Rock Stars. [via Consequence of Sound]
