One of the many great reliefs of Barack Obama’s reelection is the assurance that his second inauguration will actually feature some decent music. (Can you imagine who would be performing at Mitt Romney’s?) As an added bonus, to prepare us for the festivities, the president has shared an inauguration-themed Spotify playlist. There’s some Beyoncé and Stevie Wonder, naturally; Smokey Robinson and James Taylor for the old folks; Katy Perry and fun. for the kiddies; Brad Paisley provides the obligatory country tune; and there’s even the Glee cast recording of Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory” thrown in the mix as a tacit acknowledgment of Obama’s newish support for same-sex marriage.
