The Guardian has unveiled the first trailer for Grace of Monaco, the Nicole Kidman-fronted biographical film from director Olivier Dahan (La Vie en Rose), and it looks… well, pretty much exactly like you’d expect a studio Grace Kelly biopic starring Nicole Kidman to look. The music is lush, the voice-over is reverential, Kidman is soft-focused to the hills, and there’s little here to inspire much enthusiasm about the picture (except the presence of Tim Roth and Frank Langella in supporting roles). And if the director inspires some kind of confidence, let me just point you towards My Own Love Song, the Renee Zellweger/Forest Whitaker film that was his Rose follow-up, which is simply ghastly.
