Fred Armisen is most famous as a sketch comedian, first on Saturday Night Live and then on Portlandia, but did you realize that he’s also a musician? Superfans may know that he played drums for the punk band Trenchmouth in the late ’80s — but we can guarantee you weren’t aware that Armisen has been in bands with Jimmy Fallon since… well, somehow longer than they’ve both been alive. Last night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, the duo shared hilarious album covers and song snippets from their ’60s folk project Birdsong, their ’80s New Wave duo Nothingness, and more. At another point in the episode, Armisen had a drum battle with Questlove.
