May marks the formal end of the television season which means each week this month is packed with season (and series) finales. Here’s the rundown on what’s coming to an end this week:
Monday May 5
2 Broke Girls (CBS, 8 PM)— One of the broke girls (Beth Behrs) helps the other broke girl (Kat Dennings) reconnect with her mother and get her high school diploma. Also, they’ll probably make a lot of sex jokes.
The Tomorrow People (CW, 9 PM) — This science-fiction drama ends its first season tonight with an episode about Stephen trying to stop the “extermination of humanity” which is pretty big for an OK show that no one watches.
Bates Motel (A&E, 10 PM) — Bates Motel learned to embrace its ridiculousness and tonight it ends its second season but it has already been renewed for a third.
Tuesday May 6
New Girl (Fox, 9 PM) — In the season 3 finale, the gang all go on a cruise together! The fate of Nick and Jess is still up in the air, but what’s really going to be funny is Coach’s fear of boats.
The Mindy Project (Fox, 9:30 PM) — Season 2 finale. A romantic-comedy homage (what episode isn’t?) about Mindy finding a newspaper missed connection.
Wednesday May 7
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (CBS, 10 PM) — Season 14 finale! 14! How did that happen? The CSIs work on a crime from 25 years ago but really, 14 seasons?!
Thursday May 8
Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9 PM) — Season 11 finale. Did you know Amber Tamblyn has been on this season? It’s weird. It’s sad.
Saint George (FX, 9 PM) — Season one finale. George Lopez’s sitcom hasn’t been doing as well as FX hopes (no surprise; it’s gone from boring to downright terrible) so it hasn’t been renewed yet.
Friday May 9
Unforgettable (CBS, 8 PM) — The police procedural Unforgettable may not get much media attention but it’s been going steadily for two years — Friday it airs its second season finale — and has been renewed for a third.
Hawaii Five-0 (CBS, 9 PM) — Who knew this remake would have lasted four seasons? And would be renewed for a fifth? And was in the 2012 Guinness Book of World Records for “Highest-Rated New Show in the U.S.”? Way to go, CBS.
Blue Bloods (CBS, 10 PM) — Rounding out the CBS finales is Blue Bloods, the surprisingly good police show. In the finale, Danny (on modified duty) and Frank stumble into some shocking mess.
Saturday May 10
The Vanilla Ice Project (DIY, 10 PM) — In the season three finale of Vanilla Ice’s strange, strange home improvement show, Vanilla Ice makes over a lakeside home.
Sunday May 11
Once Upon a Time (ABC, 8 PM) — The two-hour season three finale of this supernatural fairy tale show. It’s a hit with its viewers but has yet to be renewed — though it’s looking good.
Revenge (ABC, 10 PM) — Season 3 finale. Admittedly, I fell off this show but I can still appreciate its campy nature and can’t wait to spend the summer binge-watching all that I’ve missed.
