Throughout the last few weeks, Taylor Swift had been tweeting portraits of all the famous people who were set to appear in her “Bad Blood” video. Fans were especially excited to see that Swift and Kendrick Lamar’s long-time online artistic courtship was finally coming to fruition, with Lamar starring as a character called Welvin da Great. As far as the endless list of celebrity cameos (Lamar, Lena Dunham, Cindy Crawford, Hailee Steinfeld, Ellie Goulding, Hayley Williams of Paramore, Zendaya, Jessica Alba, Karlie Kloss, Lily Aldridge, Mariska Hargitay, Ellen Pompeo, Selena Gomez, Martha Hunt, Serayah and Gigi Hadid) goes, it’s Lamar who gets the most time in the spotlight, contributing two guest verses to the song, riding in an invisible car with Swift, etc.
Next in line for most crucial cameo is Selena Gomez, who, sporting a bob-wig of Evil, throws Swift out a window, after which Swift undergoes some surgeries to make her a superhuman — or something. Coming in third is Lena Dunham, because all she has to do is sit in a chair and smoke a cigar. And honorable mention undoubtedly must go to Taylor Swift’s surprise red dye job — clearly the video’s big plot twist — towards the end.
The video, directed by Joseph Kahn, debuted last night at the Billboard Music Awards, where Swift won a total of eight prizes, including Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Female Artist and plain old Top Artist. Watch:
