A filmmaker who usually puts at least half a decade between his film projects — and didn’t release anything between 1978 and 1998 — Terrence Malick is in the midst of an encouragingly prolific period. Just a year after his magnum opus, The Tree of Life, awed audiences around the world, he premiered To the Wonder at Venice and Toronto. Now, we’ve got our first trailer for the film, which stars Ben Affleck and Olga Kurylenko as a married couple whose relationship falters after a visit to Normandy’s Mont Saint-Michel. Javier Bardem and Rachel McAdams round out the cast. If this preview is any indication, To the Wonder will mix Malick’s vivid, sweeping visual style with an intimate investigation of romantic love. The film is due in theaters April 12th.
