No current TV show generates more Monday morning conversation than Mad Men. With that in mind, Flavorwire is recapping Season 6′s Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce by giving you a handful of talking points to spark your own water-cooler debate. A substantially lower-key episode than last week’s showstopping season premiere, “The Collaborators” took us deeper into Don Draper’s latest affair — and, for the first time, gave us a painful glimpse at his childhood in the brothel. … Read More

Your Monday Morning ‘Mad Men’ Talking Point: Is This Actually the Last Season?
No current TV show generates more Monday morning conversation than Mad Men. With that in mind, Flavorwire is recapping Season 6′s Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce by giving you a handful of talking points to spark your own water-cooler debate. This week, we tackle the death-obsessed two-hour season premiere, which featured enough “WTF” moments and ominous symbols to fuel a whole season’s worth of discussion. Let’s start with the most dramatic theory that occurred to us after seeing “The Doorway”: We don’t have one more season ahead of us. Matt Weiner has been punking us all these years. This is the last season of Mad Men. … Read More

‘Mad Men’ Season 6 Review: Don Draper’s Death Trip
Matt Weiner is right. This time last year I was exasperated over his self-important demand that critics scrub their reviews of all salient details about Season 5, but his two-hour Season 6 premiere convinced me: the element of surprise is so important to Mad Men – and the upcoming episode in particular — that you just can’t reveal too much about the characters or plot without ruining the first-time viewing experience. As much as the industry-wide compliance with Weiner’s guidelines seems like an uncomfortable reminder of entertainment journalists’ exaggerated reverence for the show and its creator, the truth is that no wise reviewer would break most of his rules anyway. … Read More
Don Draper Wears Ridiculous Clothing in First ‘Mad Men’ Season 6 Stills
AMC’s first set of Season 6 Mad Men stills gives us much to obsess over ahead of Sunday night’s premiere. In these images from the first and second episodes, it looks a lot like Christmas at the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce office. (Note Joan’s festive attire, the cheap office decorations in the background, and Don’s used-car-salesman holiday jacket.) The photos also take us on vacation to Hawaii – where Don is, appropriately but kind of disappointingly, decked out in some awful resort wear. In other pictures: Pete Campbell’s sideburns look like they’re here to stay, Megan might be the only human who that can pull off a floppy summer hat, and Sally Draper is adorable. … Read More
Time to Over-Analyze These Amazing ‘Mad Men’ Season 6 Promo Photos
After a barrage of posters, trailers, and cast interview videos that have told us basically nothing, the release of Mad Men‘s official Season 6 is a bit of a relief. The pictures only hint at what’s to come, through the poses characters strike together, but there’s still plenty to notice. Don and Megan’s relationship still seems to have some spark to it; Betty and Henry’s, not so much. But it’s Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce’s newest partner, Joan, who stands out most of all, resplendent as an Egyptian queen in blue and gold. We also see her and Peggy together in one photo, which makes us wonder whether the two of them will be conspiring again this season. Let the over-analysis begin! … Read More
Everything We Know About ‘Mad Men’ Season 6, Plus Brand New Promo Photos
Earlier today, the premiere date for Season 6 of Mad Men was announced, along with news of the opening episode being a two-hour special. Unfortunately, April 7 is a long way away, and Matthew Weiner clearly doesn’t take pity on us with his “can’t tell you” attitude (actual quote — his lips are padlocked.)
However, with enough reading between the lines of interview quotes and just a little stalking of on-set photos, we’ve been able to compile everything we do know about this season, which apparently will be too good to completely avoid talking about it from excitement. … Read More
Revealing, Behind-the-Scenes Photos of ‘Mad Men’
If you haven’t recovered from Mad Men’s Emmy washout last night, then the work of photographer James Minchin should cure what ails you. The Fox is Black first tipped us off to the artist’s revealing portraits of the stars of AMC’s stylish, dramatic series. Minchin’s use of black and white creates a timelessness about the images, which unveil modern-day life creeping into the show’s 1960s setting behind the scenes. You can’t help but smile seeing Harry Crane and Ken Cosgrove gathered around a MacBook, Don Draper at his desk fiddling with a mobile phone, or Bert Cooper sporting a pair of sneakers with his vintage suit. Other photos show quiet, reflective moments of the cast as they prep for their roles. See some behind-the-scenes magic on the set of Mad Men in Minchin’s beautiful series after the jump. … Read More
