After recently taking a look at some of our favorite TV pilot opening scenes, we decided it would only be fitting to look at some of our favorite closers across history. Some are wholly satisfying for their sense of closure after a long ride with characters we came to know and love, while others are equally poignant for their ambiguity, often thanks to early cancellation. Although these are just the final moments, revisiting these scenes has been enough to make us laugh, cry, and get thoroughly freaked out all over again, and we hope that perhaps they can provide you some healthy catharsis, too. Have a favorite we missed? Let us know in the comments — and beware that this post is, for obvious reasons, full of spoilers. … Read More

17 Things We Learned from Joss Whedon’s Reddit AMA
Beloved screenwriter, director, and showrunner Joss Whedon has two movies coming out in the next month: indie horror film The Cabin in the Woods (which he co-wrote and produced), which is in theaters Friday, and May’s long-awaited Marvel superhero flick The Avengers. He’s also got a Shakespeare adaptation, Much Ado About Nothing, due out before the end of the year, as well as a supernatural romance movie and a new installment of wonderful online experiment Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog in the works. All of which is to say that he had a lot to talk about with his cultish fans in a Reddit AMA this afternoon — especially given that his past work is still very much on many people’s minds. After the jump, we round up the 17 most interesting revelations from the interview. … Read More
7 Traumatic TV Deaths We Couldn’t Help But Enjoy
We weren’t sure what to expect on Sunday’s Big Love finale. With only 70 minutes to tie up one of TV’s most tangled plot webs, the show was going to need a Joseph Smith-worthy miracle to finish up without seeming incomplete. And, thankfully, one of our favorite series actually pulled it off — but not without pulling the trigger on a few of its central characters. Now, it goes without saying that we should be happy to see TV’s villains die. But it struck us, watching this demise, that sometimes we enjoy seeing characters we were probably supposed to be rooting for meet their maker. After the jump, we round up seven TV deaths we shouldn’t have enjoyed but secretly loved. Spoilers abound throughout the post, but don’t scroll past page one if you don’t want to know which Big Love characters return to Heavenly Father. … Read More
Ultimate Vampire Showdown: Edward Cullen vs. Angel
In these vampire-crazed times, the question of which vampire franchise has supremacy — Buffy or Twilight — is a matter of much contention. Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, recently joined the fray: “I think Robert Pattinson’s really cool, [but] Angel would kick the s**t out of him,” he told MTV News. Before we ask you to chime in by voting in our poll, we must remind you that the question on the table is not which vampire is hotter or more crush-worthy, but which one would beat the other one in a straight-up fist… Read More
