Today at Flavorpill, we tried to figure out how to correctly pronounce Mediaite, Dan Abrams’ new site. We wished Kumar good luck on his first day in the Obama administration, but we found it silly that he’s going by a new name. We visited architect Philip Johnson’s Glass House. We celebrated 20 years of Merge Records. We came up with a few ideas for San Francisco’s empty lots. We thought about applying for Casey Kasem’s old gig. We were envious of the 200 top collectors. We evaluated the new Artic Monkeys single, “Crying Lightning,” and thought that it bodes well for the upcoming album. We were frightened by the new poster for Peter Jackson’s District 9, and sad to hear that our favorite graphic novelist was leaving Lost before the final season. Finally, we wondered if something called the Ditto Book can hold a candle to a Kindle. We’re betting not, but we think they should hire Beth Ditto to promote it.
