We’re tracking the decade’s celebrities, internet and otherwise, who had the shortest staying power after making a huge splash in the cultural consciousness. You know, those people that everyone and their mother was talking about for weeks and then fell off the radar completely when the public eye got bored and turned elsewhere. Who? We know. We’ll remind you.

Yesterday we posted a roundup of 10 Pop Culture Newsmakers as Pumpkins, and threw out a list of personalities we’d love to see in pumpkin form. Shockingly, someone out there was listening. Flavorpill reader Lea Geyser — who will hereon be known as Our Favorite Reader Ever — sent in a photo of a Balloon Boy pumpkin carved by her coworker, Jess Gray. We enjoy the dramatic nature of her carving; Falcon’s delicate body dangling over the harsh cityscape below. Five stars, and many thanks to you both!

The Balloon Boy transfixed a nation yesterday, even after little Falcon was found hiding in the attic. Why? The story brought the imaginative adventure of Where the Wild Things Are to life for a bunch of people sitting glued to their TV and computer screens. And as the New York Press reports, it has even inspired the creation of two new songs by Paul Holmes of the Brooklyn-based band Paul and the Patients.
