Today at Flavorpill, we laughed out loud at Babelgum’s kiddie parody of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. We wished Papa Hemingway a very happy 111th birthday. We tried to imagine what it must have been like to be on this sailboat after a 40-ton whale landed on it. We couldn’t wait to hear M.I.A.’s response to her “suburban makeover” video. We thought that Christina Hendricks looked gorgeous — if a little goth — on the red carpet at the season four premiere of Mad Men. We were glad to hear that rehearsals are finally starting up for Julie Taymor’s long-delayed Spider-Man musical. We vowed to try tarp surfing. We were thoroughly impressed by the Nadia prototype — it’s a camera that rates how aesthetically pleasing your photo will be before you take it. We confirmed our belief that Betty Draper is the worst TV mom of all time. And finally, we wanted a Betty White hoodie — mostly because we’re intrigued by the idea of washable earbuds.

Isn’t this always the way? It’s the Friday before Mother’s Day, and you’ve put off buying Mom a gift until today. So, what will it be this year? Some droopy tulips? Perhaps a bottle of lavender-scented body wash? Or are you actually going to look for something your mother will both like and use?
