Bill Hader

A Treasury of ‘SNL’ Game Shows Hosted by Bill Hader

Bill Hader announced this morning that he’ll be leaving Saturday Night Live at the end of this season, putting a wrap on an impressive eight years on the sketch-comedy series. This Saturday will be his last episode, and while we’re sure to see some of his recurring characters pop in (especially Stefon, his most famous), we’re hoping for one last chance to see Hader doing what he does best: playing a hilariously smarmy game-show host. Through his run at SNL, Hader played the straight-man in a handful of game show sketches, doing his best to keep his lips sealed while chaos ensued around him. His oddball and creepy game show hosts — all a variation on the same concept — have become a staple in the last decade. To celebrate Hader, here’s a compendium of his game-show sketches. … Read More

Awesome ‘SNL’-Inspired Art From Gallery 1988

Gallery 1988, you’ve done it again. Our favorite pop culture-obsessed art gallery unveiled a new show last weekend, and it’s a doozy: Is This Thing On #2 Too, featuring art inspired by Saturday Night Live, with everyone from Matt Foley to the Blues Brothers to the Church Lady to Toonces the Driving Cat immortalized on canvas (and even in ceramic). After the jump, have a look at some of our favorites for the exhibit — and click on the title of each piece to grab a print of your own via Gallery 1988’s online store. … Read More

‘Portlandia’s’ Amazing Season Three Guests Include Bill Hader and Many More

We already know that Chloë Sevigny will be taking a break from her gory turn on American Horror Story to join the third season of Portlandia as Fred and Carrie’s roommate. EW is reporting that the Big Love actress will be in good company. Guest spots for the upcoming season will feature the likes of… Read More

Louis CK and Bill Hader Brave Hurricane Sandy in ‘SNL’ Promo

The Frankenstorm may have done a bit of damage to 30 Rockefeller Center, but when it comes to Saturday Night Live, the show must go on. New Yorkers who had tickets to Louis CK’s canceled Sunday-night New York City Center performances can console themselves that the comedian will still be hosting SNL on Saturday (and since the subway may well still be down by then, what else are we going to do?). In fact, he and Bill Hader worked up a Hurricane Sandy-relevant promo, along with a few other delightfully awkward Halloween-themed spots. Watch the best deadpan “your mom” joke you’ll see this week after the jump, and pray Louie’s more suited to hosting SNL than The Late Show. … Read More

Larry David’s HBO Film Details and New Cast Includes Bill Hader

It looks like that Larry David HBO movie we told you about last month has taken shape, now featuring a slew of all-star names. We already knew that it would contain improv elements like the neurotic comedian’s Curb Your Enthusiasm and would be co-directed with Arrested Development and Superbad’s Greg Mottola. Jon Hamm and Michael Keaton were attached to star, as well. Now, Deadline reports that Bill Hader, Kate Hudson, Phillip Baker Hall, Danny McBride, Eva Mendes, Amy Ryan, and Curb favorite JB Smoove will also be starring in the project, Clear History. … Read More

This Week in Trailers: "Men In Black III," "ParaNorman," "Ice Age," and More

Every Friday here at Flavorwire, we like to gather up the week new movie trailers, give them a look-see, and rank them from worst to best — while taking a guess or two about what they might tell us (or hide from us) about the movies they’re promoting. We’ve got seven new trailers for you this week, including new looks at the Men in Black and Ice Age sequels, as well as the latest from the creators of Coraline. Check ‘em all out after the jump, and share your thoughts in the comments. … Read More

Watch Jonah Hill’s Funny New ‘SNL’ Promos

Poor Jonah Hill. It seems like anyone wants to talk about when he comes up these days is the fact there’s suddenly a lot less of him. We still cringe when we recall Billy Crystal serenading him with “if you lose, I think that you should know, that there’s cupcakes after the show,” at the Oscars. Anyway, if you’re like us, then you’ll be happy that there’s no mention of Hill’s weight loss in the promos for his upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live, just some effortless back and forth with his Superbad co-star Bill Hader. This should be a nice palate cleanser after Ms. Lohan’s painful struggle with the cue cards last week, right? We’ve got but one request: please let there be a sketch where Taran Killam gets to break out his killer Michael Cera impression. … Read More

Watch Steve Buscemi’s New ‘SNL’ Promo

We had really high hopes when we first heard that the always excellent Steve Buscemi would be hosting this week’s installment of Saturday Night Live, but after watching the newly-released promos for the episode, we’re suddenly not so sure — and we’re kind of embarrassed to discover that we’ve been mispronouncing his last name for years. Maybe he just doesn’t have good chemistry with Bill Hader? Maybe we’re just sick of Siri-related humor? Maybe his whole awkward funny schtick just works better in a different format? Who knows; it could just be that we’re a little cranky this morning. Click through to check it out now, and let us know what you think in the comments. … Read More

Watch This Season’s First ‘SNL’ Promos

This weekend marks the premiere of the 37th season of Saturday Night Live with an episode that certainly sounds promising: Alec Baldwin is hosting the show for a record 16th time, and Radiohead will be making a rare appearance as the musical guest (the only other time they appeared on SNL was back in 2000). Watch the first promo — which features Baldwin and Bill Hader and includes an awesome Trapper Keeper reference — after the jump, and let us know in the comments if you plan on tuning in. … Read More

Wanted: Marty McFly's 2015 Air Mags

Forget tales from Fashion’s Night Out, today brings us even bigger news — at last, Nike Air Mags are upon us! The light-up, powerlace kicks made their big-screen debut in 1989’s Back to the Future Part II, when Marty McFly found himself saving humanity in the year 2015. Now you can have your very own piece of Hill Valley four years ahead of schedule. The rules of the game are explained over at Nike’s eBay page — basically, we have ten days, 150 pairs of Mags auctioned off each day, and all proceeds go to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. The eBay site even has an accompanying video, starring Bill Hader and Kevin Durant, to answer the question we’ve all been wondering. … Read More
