The Wolfpack Wants $15 Million a Piece for ‘The Hangover 3′

1

Setting aside our feelings about whether or not there should even be another installment in the Hangover franchise — as our own Jason Bailey already pointed out, The Hangover Part II was “the closest thing to a shot-for-shot remake since Van Sant’s Psycho” — we can’t help but blanch over the news that Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, and Ed Helms are asking for $15 million a pop to reprise their roles in the third film. Bear in mind that’s $10 million more than the entire budget for the original movie.

What’s On at Flavorpill: The Links That Made the Rounds In Our Office

+

Today at Flavorpill, we watched a hilarious clip of Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, Michael Stipe, and Martin Short playing “Password” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. We were shocked to learn that Marc Jacobs’ entire spring 2012 collection was stolen from a train leaving Paris for London. We were not-so-subtly reminded why spoilers are bad thanks to these propaganda posters. We wished that more authors would make like Ann Patchett and open up their own bookstores. We were amazed by how this stylish apartment looks, even though it’s furnished completely in cardboard. We found this “walkable roller coaster” in Germany kind of baffling. We found it pretty amusing that our friends over at BuzzFeed organized a protest against People Magazine’s selection of Bradley Cooper as the 2011 Sexiest Man of the Year (and we completely agree with them that Ryan Gosling would have been a better choice). We were super excited to hear that Kristen Schaal is going to be in a few episodes of 30 Rock this season. And finally, after years of waiting, we got to see what Beyoncé’s wedding dress looked like. Thanks to a super-sized train, it did not disappoint.

Watch a Clip from Wet Hot American Summer’s 10th Anniversary Bash

3

Last night the Stella gang (aka David Wain, Michael Showalter, and Michael Ian Black) celebrated the 10 year anniversary of Wet Hot American Summer by hosting an event at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Vulture has a nice recap of the evening’s highlights, which included taped bits by Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler, audition footage for Bradley Cooper and Naomi Watts (who was not cast!), and in-person appearances by a few of the cult classic’s most beloved characters, including frumpy Camp Firewood director Beth (Janeane Garofalo), who is currently busy at work on “a line of clothing for the imminent Rapture,” and legendary Catskills comedian Alan Shemper (Showalter), a man who went to camp so long ago that Jesus Christ was his counselor. Click through to watch Shemper’s all-to-brief routine, and if you’re craving for more WHAS action, head over to Entertainment Weekly where Wain, Showalter, and Joe Lo Truglio all reflect back on their experiences making the film a decade later.

Rate-a-Trailer: The Hangover Part II

+

From what we can tell, the only differences between The Hangover (which this trailer makes clear was considered a very funny movie) and its sequel are purely cosmetic: Ed Helms’ character is now sporting a Mike Tyson tattoo; Zack Galifianakis is missing most of his lustrous mane; there is a monkey wearing clothes instead of a baby wearing sunglasses; and this time around the action takes place at a wedding in Bangkok as opposed to a bachelor party in Las Vegas. Click through to check it out now, and let us know if you think Todd Phillips is phoning it in with The Hangover Part II in the comments.

The Shame-O-Meter: All About Steve

+

Transformers 2 may no longer be the worst movie of the year/decade. All About Steve, a film starring Sandra Bullock and Bradley Cooper, has just received the royal poo-poo from Rotten Tomatoes – a 2 percent critic rating. That’s out of 100. The plot goes something like this: Sandra Bullock is a weird crossword-puzzlin’ babe who falls in love with Bradley Cooper, a goon cameraman who is just not that into her.

Somewhere along the way, this ended up as “easily one of the worst movies of the year (if not the decade), there is not one redeeming quality to All About Steve, an offensive film morally, socially, and to the institution of comedy.” Film critic Peter Sobczynski bleakly sums up the Rotten Tomatoes onslaught nicely: “Let me put it this way — this is easily the single worst film that Sandra Bullock has been involved with and bear in mind, I have seen Speed 2.” To put this all into perspective, we’ve whipped up a handy dandy Shame-O-Meter after the jump. What’s on at Flavorpill: Links that Made the Rounds in Our Office

+

Today at Flavorpill, we loved this comparison of Google to SkyNet. We wished we’d come up with the $50,000 web page idea. We enjoyed watching these movies in four frames. We decided that we have to see this doc about construction workers going green. We giggled over the idea of a “slow video game movement.” Isn’t that what stoners have been doing forever? We almost threw up over the news that Facebook is worth $10 billion. We found it funny that Jon & Kate debuted to record ratings.  (It must be the reverse mullet.) We considered pooling our money to buy Cameron Frye’s house. We were surprised to learn that TV might save indie film. We encountered www.explosionsandboobs.com. We learned how to whisper. We hopped Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis and Bradley Cooper. And finally, we were really, really disappointed in Pete Yorn. Any dream about Scarlett Johansson shouldn’t involve recording an album.
