20 of the Best Closing Scenes in Television

After recently taking a look at some of our favorite TV pilot opening scenes, we decided it would only be fitting to look at some of our favorite closers across history. Some are wholly satisfying for their sense of closure after a long ride with characters we came to know and love, while others are equally poignant for their ambiguity, often thanks to early cancellation. Although these are just the final moments, revisiting these scenes has been enough to make us laugh, cry, and get thoroughly freaked out all over again, and we hope that perhaps they can provide you some healthy catharsis, too. You can’t just pick up the phone and order more.” It’s hard to ignore sage advice like this, so as a little inspiration for everyone this Earth Day, we’ve collected some of our favorite moments in TV’s ongoing environmental crusade—set to the tune of one of the greatest green episodes in history, Community‘s “Environmental Science,” featuring the rock band Greene Daye. Other appearances include: Captain Spock, Kristen Wiig, live-action dinosaurs, and Doogie Howser attending a very sick Mother Earth (played by Bette Midler in ABC’s unforgettable The Earth Day Special). 10 Fictional TV Towns We’d Like to Visit

Last week IFC announced that Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein would be releasing Portlandia: A Guide for Visitors this November. It’s the perfect idea for a show in which the town itself is such an important character; a more perfect vision of Portland, with a cool mayor, 100% employment, and hipster customs that seem more like local law – especially bicycle rights. And this guidebook might be our chance to find out where Ronald D. Moore of Battlestar Galactica fame lives so that we can visit him ourselves.
