Our Favorite Gap-Toothed Celebrities

1

New York Fashion Week begins today, and according to the Wall Street Journal, in a rejection of “the air-brushed perfection of the digital age,” one of the most sought after looks at model casting calls was gapped teeth. Frankly, we couldn’t be more excited. We’ve always found it refreshing when celebrities embrace what makes them unique — instead of paying to get it fixed — and to see this kind of thing happening on the runways can only mean good things for gap-happy youths everywhere. Imagine fashion-minded young girls deciding not to get braces! After the jump, we present 10 of our favorite gap-toothed beauties, from old school favorites like Lauren Hutton to young upstarts like Ed Westwick. Leave anyone we’ve missed in the comments.

Our 10 Favorite Unlikely Celebrity Songbirds

Pigs may not fly and hell may not have frozen over (yet), but seeing some of our favorite Hollywood A-listers suddenly belt out a tune on-screen often feels like the equivalent. Sure, you may have been nominated for an Academy Award, Jeff Bridges and Kate Hudson, but can you carry a tune? While we’ve yet to screen Crazy Heart and Nine ourselves, according to the LA Times, apparently you can!

A look at some of our other favorite musical/acting savants after the jump.

Chuck Bass’s Gay Kiss and 5 Other Steamy TV Makeout Moments

1

So last night was the big night on Gossip Girl, the night Chuck Bass finally came to task for his obsession with wearing prints, confronted all of those gay rumors, and finally kissed a dude. That got us in the mood to reminisce about the gay kisses of yesteryear. TV gays and lesbians have come a long way since ABC killed Ellen after Ellen Degeneres made eyes at Laura Dern opening the floodgates for gay love large and small. Thurston Moore on the Set of Gossip Girl = Mind Explosion

3

thurstonmoore-gossipgirl

According to Stereogum, an upcoming episode of Gossip Girl features Sonic Youth playing their ’80s hit “Starpower” at a party for Rufus and Lily. Thurston and former Be Your Own Pet frontwoman Jemina Pearl previously recorded “Sheena Is a Punk Rocker” for an episode sans cameo. Rolling Stone has the pic above and the on-set scoop from Thurston: “Ed [Westwick] and Chace [Crawford] seemed aware of who we are, but they were more interested in Kings of Leon. Those are their boys.” Thurston says that he and wife Kim Gordon are “pretty fanatical viewers of the show.” In fact, “It’s sort of our dose of Shakespeare every week.”

Mind explosion. We’d pay good money to see Gordon take on Waldorf.

Season three of Gossip Girl premieres September 14.

Quote of the Day: Chuck Bass Wears His Heart on His… Forearm

+

“I saw it in a bathroom stall in a bar in Brooklyn. I thought it was cool, so I got it.”

- Ed Westwick responds to Interview Magazine’s question about his “I Heart Romance” tattoo. We do hope you’re kidding, Mr. Bass. He also has “21 Grams,” “Love Me Two Times” (a song by The Doors), and  “You Make Me Feel Like the One” on his hot little bod. And expect “way more” because his personal mantra is: “Live fast, die young. Be a good-looking corpse. Leave a good-looking tattoo.” Sound advice.

Michael Ausiello’s Favorite TV Shows of 2008

+

In case you haven’t noticed, it has been an extremely slow day in an extremely slow week for cultural news (blame it on the fact that most publicists get Christmas to New Year’s Day off). Luckily, we just stumbled upon an exciting gem — Michael Ausiello’s last-minute best of TV 2008 list on EW.com. It’s just in time and it’s chock full of surprises! And shout outs to The Shield! And Ugly Betty! And there’s no Tina Fey anywhere! It’s crazy! (Sorry, too much caffeinating in preparation for tonight’s festivities.)

Before we spoil all the fun, check out his expert picks, along with our common man commentary in bold, after the jump.
