1. Los Colorados – Hot ‘n Cold (Katy Perry Cover)
This is incredible. Los Colorados, a Ukrainian polka band, took a generic pop song and transformed it into a generic polka song. These four 30-somethings play it to their large gypsy wives, urging them to prepare a decent sandwich for once. Admittedly, they prefer hot rather than cold. No, Fall Out Boy haven’t ever been way out on the edge, but their post-emo rockage usually cuts through the murk of alt-rock radio (even if Pete Wentz is the most adorable/annoying schmoozer in existence). Sadly, all is not well for the eyeliner army. Last week, in a a spit-shined performance of “What a Catch” for the Today Show, we got a glimpse of the lost Boy’s future, and it looked a whole lot like a Chinese chicken.
