Earlier this week we read a fascinating account of the auctioning off of Edward Gorey’s fur collection over on the Paris Review. It seems that the author — who over the years acquired a whopping 21 fur coats — had a change of heart in the ’80s, and decided to lock them all up in a storage facility. When he died in 2000, he left his entire estate to the care and welfare of animals, which in turn, led to the aforementioned sale. The story got us thinking about other famous men who’ve incorporated fur into their wardrobes. After doing a little digging, we were surprised to find that the majority of celebrities who we came up with were either old school rock stars or modern-day rappers — and Justin Bieber. Click through to check out the photos, and be sure to let us know in the comments: Do you think it’s ever OK to wear real fur?

Today at Flavorpill, we met Big Brother. We couldn’t believe that Ryan from The Office is a budding photographer. We felt like mindless sheep. We discovered how funny superuseless superpowers can be. We came up with some names for the new Wu-Tang offshoot. We learned how stop-motion babies are made. We wondered how many people still own VCRs. We read some bad Jay-Z metaphors. We tried to imagine what kind of parent would buy a toy replica of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa for their kid to play with. We downloaded a free Gucci Mane mixtape from Diplo. We decided that someone needs to stage an Indiana Jones intervention with Harrison Ford. We looked forward to Breaking Dawn‘s CGI baby. We had our Arrested Development movie hopes toyed with yet again. And finally, we found another reason to be frightened by FOX News. Thank you, Sarah Palin.
Chromeo know how to put together a mix. Their recent entry in the famed DJ-Kicks compilation series featured members Patrick Gemayel (P-Thugg) and David Macklovitch (Dave 1) picking their favorite “leather-pants” tracks and sex-soaked funk from from the 70s and 80s; but they’re equally attuned to the best of 2009. After the jump, check out videos and downloads of Dave 1′s favorite tracks of 2009.
