15 ’90s Teen Heartthrobs Who’ve Resurfaced on TV

This Sunday, Showtime premieres Penny Dreadful, a new horror series that stars Josh Hartnett. Hartnett hasn’t completely fallen off the radar, but he’s definitely been in the spotlight less than he was when he started out in the late ’90s. Back then, Hartnett was a Heartthrob with a capital H, profiled in everything from J-14 to Bop, his picture adorning the walls of teen bedrooms and junior-high lockers across America. His return to the mainstream is exciting — but he’s not the only ’90s hottie on television right now. 20 TV Mean Girls We Secretly Love

From the tough ladies on Game of Thrones and Revenge to the recent additions of sardonic “gal pal” Jessa Johansson (Girls) and James Van Der Beek’s equally self-absorbed BFF Chloe (B—- in Apartment 23), audiences are quite taken with TV’s latest mean girl class. Earlier today Gleeks ’round the world white knuckled their Broadway playbills when it was announced that at the end of the coming season, Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, and Cory Monteith will be graduating from McKinley High School and leaving the show. On one hand, it will be sad to see three of the series’ most iconic characters depart — and at the same time, to boot. On the other, we agree with Glee creator Ryan Murphy, who recently said that he didn’t want the show to be populated with characters that “were in high school for eight years.” High school dramas have always had their fair share of actors in their 20s — and many of them were already at that age when they first landed their gigs. After the jump, we’ll look at some of television’s oldest high school students. Be sure to add anyone who we’ve missed in the comments. … Read More
