‘Mad Men’s’ Departing Bobby: “Be Careful Around January Jones”

1

It’s a good thing Bobby Draper has never been a terribly important Mad Men character, because he’s about to be recast for the fourth time in five seasons. Maxwell Huckabee and Aaron Hart both preceded Jared Gilmore, who most recently played Bobby and is leaving to roll the dice on the new ABC fairy-tale drama Once Upon a Time. What we find amusing about this story isn’t that Gilmore is leaving, though — it’s his exit interview with TV Guide. When asked whether he had any advice for the new Bobby, he told the magazine, “Be careful around January [Jones]. She’s not as approachable as the others… She’s really serious about what she does. [But] everyone else is so nice.” Burn! And just like that, we know why the scenes where Betty is terrible to her children are so convincing. [via Digital Spy]

‘Mad Men’ Season 5 Update: Filming Begins in August

3

This time last summer, we were readying ourselves for the premiere of Season 4 of Mad Men. Our biggest worry? Perfecting our Old-Fashioned recipe before having people over to watch it on Sunday night. This year, thanks to some intense and drawn out negotiations between Matthew Weiner and the powers that be, we’ve got to settle for the news that filming on Season 5 begins on August 8 and we won’t be seeing any new episodes until March of next year.

This creates a few interesting questions: How will producers deal with January Jones’s pregnancy on-screen? (She isn’t due until November.) Will Jon Hamm, who recently signed on to guest star in five episodes of David Cross’s British comedy The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, find it difficult juggling the two gigs (especially given that he’s planning to make his directorial debut with the season premiere)? And perhaps, most importantly, how many of our predictions for Season 5 will come true, given the production delays?

I was at a party — I’d never met her — and she was like, ‘Come sit down.’ So I sit at her table and talk for 10 minutes, and she goes, ‘I think it’s time for you to leave now.’ So I say, ‘January, you are an actress in a show and everybody’s going to forget about you in a few years, so f*cking be nice,’ and I got up and left. And she thinks that’s funny?” – Zach Galifianakis talks to ShortList about January Jones

What Would the Ideal Female Celebrity Look Like?

7

The New York Post reports that two Beverly Hills plastic surgeons have surveyed more than 1,200 of their current and former patients to come up with a list of “Hollywood’s Hottest Looks.” So what do most women want? Taylor Swift’s hair, Anne Hathaway’s eyes, January Jones’ cheeks, Natalie Portman’s nose, Scarlett Johansson’s lips, Halle Berry’s jaw line, Amy Adams’ skin, and Penelope Cruz’s body. Rate-a-Trailer: Liam Neeson and January Jones in Unknown

1

2011′s Unknown (not to be confused with 2006′s Unknown) is one of those movies that easily translates into a thrilling trailer. You’ve got lots of action (car wrecks, things exploding, hand-to-hand combat), beautiful women (January Jones and Diane Kruger), and mysteries (Where is Liam Neeson’s passport? Why is Aidan Quinn pretending to be him? Is January Jones in on the con? Where did Frank Langella come from?!) In other words, while we have no idea if the full-length version will be as exciting as this snippet, we’ll probably be shelling out 10 bucks in order to find out.

This Week In Buzz

+

Editor’s note: Welcome to the first installment of This Week In Buzz. Each Friday, our internet-savvy friends over at BuzzFeed will curate a post that’s filled with links to some of their favorite items on the web that week. Enjoy!

We started this week with the Bard of Wasilla, who taught us some fancy new words. We watched the Gathering of The Juggalos infomercial and promptly ordered new facepaint. (Tila Tequila will be there. Will you?) Matty B taught us to love “California Gurls,” and Andrew W.K. once again taught us how to party. We prepared for Season 4 of Mad Men by appreciating Jon Hamm, ogling Christina Hendricks, and staging a dating intervention for January Jones.  We checked in on Atreyu — he’s a dad! 4chan went “family-friendly,” and we laughed, then danced around to the GMA theme song.   We decided that Burlington Cat Factory is maybe not the worst business idea — but stay clear of Atlantis Poo. This Price Is Right spokesmodel mind-neutered us with her eyes. And finally, we joined the “Get Peter Gallagher To A Million” project, because what is Twitter for, if not the wisdom of Sandy Cohen?
