Everything We Know About ‘Mad Men’ Season 6, Plus Brand New Promo Photos

Earlier today, the premiere date for Season 6 of Mad Men was announced, along with news of the opening episode being a two-hour special. Unfortunately, April 7 is a long way away, and Matthew Weiner clearly doesn’t take pity on us with his “can’t tell you” attitude (actual quote — his lips are padlocked.)

Indie releases tend to thrive during the months when the multiplexes get dumber — in other words, every month until October, when big studios start putting their muscle behind intelligent Oscar contenders and act like that’s the kind of stuff they’re turning out all year. Taking a glance at today’s new DVD releases (as we do on many a groggy Tuesday morn), we noticed the continuation of a disturbing pattern. Happily Divorced: Season One. The New Adventures of Old Christine: The Complete Fifth Season. Transformers Prime: Season One. “Fan Favorite” collections featuring the “best” of Hogan’s Heroes and Macgyver — since every season of those shows has already been released. And the question we ask (aside from “who the hell is buying this stuff”) is this: How is it that we get every single episode of Fran Drescher’s new TV Land sitcom a mere seven months after they aired, but we’re still waiting for our Wonder Years DVDs?
